Without the CRCP, I would probably have multiple jobs and be lucky to be enrolled
in one or two classes per semester. The CRCP enables me to attend any class I need
toward my major and supplies the books I require for each class. The CRCP also helped
me afford an apartment with a roommate.
I'm the middle of five children. I graduated from Chicago High School for Agricultural
Sciences in 2001; I was an honor roll student my junior and senior years. I've worked
as a cashier at Kmart where I learned about customer service. I've also worked at
Blockbuster where my customer service skills helped me earn commissions.
I started at UPS in March 2006 and the CRCP and Moraine Valley Community College
that summer. At UPS, I'm also a CERC (Co-chair & Retention Committee) member
where I welcome new hires and provide peer orientation to help them learn the ropes
at UPS.
I get good grades (3.0 GPA), take advantage of the free tutoring program and maintain
good attendance. I stick with three classes a semester; to overwhelm myself would
be a big mistake.
My goals are to receive my associates' degree at MVCC, then my bachelors' degree
at Chicago State University. After that, I'd like to pursue a career in graphic
arts and advertising. I may even pursue an advertising career at UPS.
