Meet a few of our CRCP Students
I'm from a family of hard workers. My parents both have associates degrees and my
two sisters have bachelor's degrees from great schools. As you can tell, education
is important to our family. My husband offers me the support that I need to balance
our family life with the CRCP-- college, a physically challenging job at UPS, and
early work hours. I believe that in order to succeed, one has to work hard.
I've worked as a flight attendant and a day care teacher. I'm a graduate of Marian
High School in Chicago and currently attend Moraine Valley Community College where
I'm pursuing an associate's degree. After Moraine, I'll transfer to Chicago State
University where I can continue participating in the CRCP while pursuing my bachelor's
degree in early childhood education. One day I'll be a teacher. I believe the reason
I'm successful is because I attend classes, participate, study, complete all assignments,
and even use tutors when I need the help. It's paid off. Along the way, my academic
goals have included making the Dean's List (I've done that!) and continuing to earn the
CRCP academic awards each semester; a cash bonus of $250 or $500 for making good grades.
Actually, the CRCP hasn't been as hard as I expected. I take my classes after work and
stay on campus until I've finished my homework. And I believe in taking naps because they
make me feel better. Give it a try. Find a routine that works for you and start working
toward your goals!
