Process
  1. You may register for an Open House through the Open House Calendar and Registration link or by speaking to a CRCP representative.
  2. Or, you may submit your contact information to us by calling our toll-free phone line (1-866-501-CRCP).
  3. Interested persons will be invited and scheduled to attend an upcoming Open House at the UPS Hodgkins facility where you will hear a presentation of the program.
  4. You will be provided with information on our five academic partner institutions, Moraine Valley Community College, Chicago State University, Morton College, Prairie State College or Olive-Harvey College and begin the application process.
  5. The final step is to complete a CRCP application and schedule a time to return to UPS Hodgkins for your UPS employment and CRCP program interviews.

Requirements
  • Enroll at either Moraine Valley Community College, Chicago State University, Morton College, Prairie State College or Olive-Harvey College.
  • Work at the UPS Hodgkins, IL facility for an average of 3.5 to 5 hours per night, Monday through Friday and be available during the following hours:
    • Sunrise Shift (4:00am - 9:00am)
    • Night Shift (10:00pm - 3:00am)
  • Students must be at least 17 years of age by the start of the program.
  • Students must have graduated from high school or have a GED
  • Successfully complete 12 credit hours per academic year.
  • Students must sign a Student Agreement each semester to receive benefits.
  • Students must be employed at UPS at the time the benefits are granted.
  • Remain a UPS employee as specified under their signed Student Agreement.
Additional requirements for each organization:
  • UPS - Authorized to work in the United States
  • Moraine Valley Community College, Morton College, Prairie State College and Olive-Harvey College - each college has an open-door admissions policy
  • Chicago State University (Incoming Freshmen)
    • GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
    • A score of 18 on the ACT or 810 on the SAT
    • Graduated from an accredited High School or received a GED certificate

Employment
To be a part of the Chicagoland Regional College Program, you must be employed by the UPS Chicago Area Consolidation Hub in Hodgkins, IL. You must be on the UPS payroll by specified dates and remain on the payroll until the end of the student agreement period.

All CRCP student employees will start as package handlers. In this job, you will be loading (or unloading) packages from UPS trailers. During your shift, you will be expected to load or unload parcels weighing up to a maximum of 70 pounds, with an average weight of approximately 11 pounds. The shifts are between 3.5 and 5 hours each day, although overtime may be required at times.

Based on job performance, CRCP students are eligible for consideration for promotion to part-time supervisor.
